Team Vortex (FTC #23855) is seeking $5,000 to fund our entire 2025/2026 DECODE season! Help our young engineers 'dig up' ancient technology, design, build, and program a competition-ready robot, and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders through community outreach. Most of our students are girls, and your support helps us build a more inclusive future in robotics.

Unlocking the Ancient Code: Who is Vortex?

Hello! We are Vortex, FTC Team 23855, the powerhouse middle school team proudly sponsored by Category 5 Robotics (FRC). Just like the name implies, we are a small but mighty team that grows stronger and more determined every day, pulling students into a whirlwind of excitement and learning!

Our mission is to inspire younger generations by growing STEM through innovative methods while promoting FIRST to be an inclusive space for all. This year, we are especially proud that three out of our five students are girls, helping to shatter stereotypes in engineering!

The Expedition: Decoding the 2025/2026 Challenge

This season, the FIRST Tech Challenge game, DECODE™, is challenging us to become engineering archaeologists! We must design a sophisticated robot that can navigate the field, analyze artifacts, and uncover the secrets of ancient technology. This requires more than just smart kids—it requires materials, tools, and the ability to travel and compete!

Why We Need Your Help to Excavate Our Success

While our passion is boundless, the resources required to run a competitive and impactful team are significant. Your generous donation of $5,000 will be the foundational support that allows our middle schoolers to fully participate and reach their potential this season.

This funding will directly support our entire season's budget, covering the essential resources we need to decode the challenge and fulfill our mission:

  • 🏆 Competition Registration & Travel: Entry fees for local and regional competitions, plus travel expenses (gas, transportation) to get our team and robot to the 'dig sites.'
  • ⚙️ Robot Materials & Tools: New aluminum parts, specialized screws, sensors, motors, and high-quality tools that allow our students to prototype, build, and make real-time repairs.
  • 👕 Team Spirit & Identity: Custom team T-shirts and outreach materials that help us look professional and spread the message of FIRST throughout our community.
  • 📚 Inspiring Our Community (Outreach): Funding for materials (e.g., small demo robots, pamphlets) we use to host outreach events in the low country of South Carolina, bringing the excitement of STEM to younger students who may not have access to robotics.
